The area of the Takht-e Soleyman is the same famous place that is said to be the birthplace of the “Zoroaster”, and in Pahlavi’s articles it’s named “Ganjak”; the Arabic historians called it “Shiz”; the Greeks and roman called it “Gazka”, and “Hamdollahe Mostofi” called it “Satorigh” in “Mongol” language . Today all of the archeological site is called “Takht-e Soleyman “.
The water level of the beautiful and magical lake of the Takht-e Soleyman stays the same during every season of the year. Till now no one was able to reach the bottom of it. The outgoing water is 100 liter in every second. The length of the lake is 120 meter with 80 meter width. The legend has it that in the future a 15 years old virgin will swim in this lake and she will get pregnant from the seed of the Zoroaster which is preserved in the lake water. She will bear a child named “Saoshyant”. In Zoroastrianism and Parseeism He is considered the final savior of the world.
Fire temple of “Azargoshnasb”, the place of peace between water and fire, is one of the main fire temples of the Zoroastrianism, the name of this fire temple came 61 time in the biggest Persian epic book “Shahname”. It is called the fire temple of warriors or kings. This fire temple has been the source of the fire of all the fire temples from east to west. In the old Persia there was 3 main fire temples that is:
1- Fire Temple of “Azar-goshnasb” the fire temple of warriors or kings.
2- Fire Temple of “Azar-faranbagh” the fire temple of the devouts.
3- Fire Temple of “Azar-borzinmehr” the fire temple of farmers.
In the 7th book of Dinkerd, at the 39th clause of its maker, “Keykhosro” mentioned as the son of “Siyavakhsh” that has been given the splendor of God. The “Azargoshnasb” word means the fire of the male horse. It’s been brought in the legends that in the noontime when Keykhosro was trying to open the “Bahman” gate he encountered the darkness of night which demons had made it with their magic. Then a fire started in his horse’s mane and the word became bright again. After Keykhosro’s victory over Demons and the opening of the Bahman gate, he put the fire there for appreciation of the gods’ help and so the Fire itself and Fire-Place was named “The Fire of the male Horse” or “Azargoshnasb”.
Most of the Iranian kings have visited the “Azargoshnasb” Fire Temple in Azerbaijan barefoot and has expressed their gratitude and adoration for god and has dedicated some gifts to this holy place.
This big social, cultural and religious complex has been sieged for about 3 times in the time of Khosroparviz in the wars between Persia and Rome. in the third attack (624) it had been ruined by Rome’s army. After this event it had lost its significance because of the political tumbles in the last days of Sassanian dynasty and Arabs attacks.
